Jimmy Mars Ready for Dirt Late Model Dream on Heels of Donnellson Runner-Up

MENOMONIE, WISC (June 9) - Jimmy Mars and his #28 team ventured to the Hawkeye State of Iowa on June 2-3 for a pair of $3,000 to win Lucas Oil MLRA Series showdowns. On Thursday night at Southern Iowa Speedway in Oskaloosa, Iowa, Jimmy ran fifth in heat race action and later started the 30-lap headliner from the outside of the sixth row. The Menomonie, Wisconsin standout then proceeded to pick off seven competitors during the feature en route to a strong fifth place showing behind only winner Jesse Stovall, Jordan Yaggy, Rodney Sanders, and Chad Simpson.

At Lee County Speedway in Donnellson, Iowa on Friday evening, Jimmy and the other competitors in attendance competed for another $3,000 paycheck. Jimmy moved up four spots in his heat race to finish second prior to rolling off from the pole position in the 40-lap main event. The popular driver known as "The Iceman" then paced the field for the first 34 circuits before getting passed in lapped traffic, which dropped him to a runner-up effort behind only victor Chris Simpson. Complete results from both weekend battles can be found online at www.mlraracing.com.

Mars Racing is now set to descend upon the hallowed ground of Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio on June 9-11 for the 22nd Annual 'Dirt Late Model Dream.' Things kick off at the "Big E" on Thursday and Friday with a full program featuring hot laps, time trials, heats, last chance races, and Twin 25 features. Thursday's twin main events will pay $5,000 each to the winner, while Friday's 25-lappers reward the winner with a $10,000 payday.

A new point system from the preliminary nights will then set the field for Saturday's six heat races. For those not transferring through heat race competition, a pair of consolation events will then help round out the starting field for the 100-lap contest. As is the norm, another whopping $100,000 windfall awaits the victor of the 'Dirt Late Model Dream.' Jimmy has made nine career starts in the Dream finale and will be looking for his second race title, as he was victorious at Eldora back in 1997.
