Hunter Rasdon Rides to Jackson Cash with the COMP Cams Super Dirt Series

BYRAM, Mississippi (July 2) – Neither a strong field of competitors nor a lengthy rain delay could slow down Hunter Rasdon on Saturday night at Jackson Motor Speedway as he scored the $2,000 victory with the COMP Cams Super Dirt Series (CCSDS) presented by Lucas Oil.

The tour made its debut at the ¼-mile oval, and it appeared that it might be over before it started, when heavy rain struck the facility just before heat races began. Track crews and racers were able to ultimately work the track surface back into racing condition after an hour and a half delay.

Jimmy Cliburn raced his way into the Pole Position for the 35-lap finale with fast qualifier Chandler Petty earning the outside-front-row starting spot via preliminary action.

Cliburn snagged the lead as the race went green at his home track, while 3rd-starting Hunter Rasdon immediately jumped to the runner-up spot with Petty, Kyle Beard, and Chad Thrash giving chase.

As Cliburn worked the hub of the track, Rasdon worked steadily on the cushion, and exiting turn two on the 7th circuit the Jonesboro, Arkansas racer bolted to the lead.

Following a lap 15 caution for debris Kyle Beard worked his way into the runner-up position, where he began pressuring Rasdon for the top spot.

Despite a trio of mid-race cautions Beard couldn’t find enough grip to pass Rasdon, and late in the race Rasdon rode the highline to a margin of victory of more than a straightaway.

“I’ve been real good here in a Modified in the past, but I’ve never been able to get a good run in a Late Model at this place, so this win means a lot,” said Rasdon. “I could see Beard getting his nose under me on some of those restarts, but I knew once I got my momentum built around the top that I would be fine.”

The fourth CCSDS win of the year for Rasdon came over Beard, Petty, Jimmy Cliburn and 19th-starting Jack Sullivan.
