Jackson Lands in Victory Lane for Night #1 of the Hagerstown/Winchester Shootout

Hagerstown Speedway
HAGERSTOWN, MD (July 8) - Martinsburg, WV’s Keith Jackson earned the outside pole for the Friday special Night One running of the Hagerstown /Winchester Shootout for the Hoosier Tire Super Late Models and made the best of it. The 25-lap feature went all the way under green and he led the entire distance to collect $2,500 for his efforts by running mostly around the top side. Fresh off the Nininger Memorial victory his last trip to the speedway, he carried the momentum into the shootout triumph.

Scott Palmer, who began from fifth, got into the runner up spot and was a strong competitor but unable to reel in Jackson. It was his best showing since moving to the late models this season.

Dale Hollidge set the Penske Shocks Fast Time with a 19.839 second lap earlier in the evening and started on the pole but later finished fourth following the sixth starter of Matt Cosner who was third.

During the feature there were several smaller battles between Cosner, CS Fitzgerald, Trevor Feathers and Jason Covert while the feature continued under green.

“I just needed to hit my marks” Jackson stated. “Lap traffic is always a concern but I felt comfortable.”

Super Late Model heat winners were Hollidge, Jackson and Allen Brannon

Hollidge Continues Late Model Win Tear, Takes Winchester Fourth
Roberson Repeats in RUSH Crates

by Doug Watson
WINCHESTER, VA (July 9) - When your hot, your hot, and such was the case for Dale Hollidge last Saturday night at Winchester Speedway. Hollidge rolled to his fourth Winchester feature win of the  season in last Saturday nights 35-lap Winchester/Hagerstown shoot-out event. The win for Hollidge, worth $2500, was his 9th overall Late Model win of the 2016 campaign and it came steering his potent Greg Gunter owned Rocket XR-1 no.0.

Hollidge and Matt Cosner shared the front row for the start with Hollidge vaulting into the race lead as the field raced into turn one. From that point on, it would be a race for second, as Hollidge was the class of the field and would eventually lead all 35-circuits to score the convincing win. “I let one get away last night at Hagerstown and I didn’t wasn’t going to let that happen tonight.” Hollidge stated post race. “The track was slick tonight and we were really good on the bottom, I knew I had to get to the front first at the start.” The only scare Hollidge faced during the race was lapped cars midway through the event. “They held their line, but they were tough to pass.” Said Hollidge. “I didn’t want to come off the bottom to try and pass them, but we were able to get through until we got a caution which gave us a clean race track.” Cosner held tough for second, Keith Jackson took third, Jeremy Miller (In his Winchester debut) was fourth with Scott Palmer completing the top-five. Heats for the 20 cars entered went to Hollidge and Cosner.

Logan Roberson prevailed for his 2nd Winchester feature win of the season in the 20-lap RUSH Crate Late Model main. Roberson, who lined up fifth for the start, passed race long leader Darin Henderson on the 16th lap and would then pace the remaining circuits to score the win aboard his MasterSbilt no.17R. “The top of the track just came to us here tonight.” Roberson stated in victory lane. I followed the leaders on the bottom for a bunch of laps and decided to try the top and the car stuck and we were able to get the lead.” Henderson held tough for second with Tyler Hoy, Transtan Stoner and Steve Lowery rounding out the top-five. Heats went to Heats went to Lowery and Kris Eaton.

In support class action, Craig Parill took his first win of the season in the 15-lap Pure Stock feature, Mark Pollard took a thrilling win in the 15-lap U-Car main with Tyler Gray collecting his third feature win of the season in the nightcap 15-lap Enduro Stock feature.
