LINCOLNTON, N.C. (April 30) - Cleveland County Speedway will play host to one of the largest events in the history of the Carolina Clash Super Late Model Series this weekend May 2 & 3, with a possible $20,000 grand prize for one driver.

The festivities will kick off on Friday night May 2 with a $5,000 to win main event. The 50 lap affair will feature the new 'fan friendly' Carolina Clash format as the series will attempt to conduct their second event of the young season. The nine year old series has seen Mother Nature score wins in four different events in 2008.

Saturday nights activities will be highlighted by the $10,000 to win '8th Annual Skyler Trull Memorial', which is being held at CCS for the first time in 2008. The 58 lap main event will feature an open tire rule for this years version of the event. Any driver that can capture the wins on both nights will earn a $5,000 bonus.

"We are getting more excited each day," said Carolina Clash Series President Larry Lee. "This weekend is going to be a spectacular event for our fans and race teams. The Skyler Trull Memorial is such a special race and to be a part of it is something that we truly treasure. We have been receiving phone calls from drivers all up and down the east coast. I am pretty sure this will be one of the largest and strongest fields in the history of the Carolina Clash Series," said Lee.

With only one event in the books in 2008, Rambo Franklin will lead the contingent into CCS. Franklin scored the opening round win at Fayetteville Motor Speedway on April 12th, where he out dueled four time and defending series champion Ricky Weeks, who finished a close second.

"With all the rain outs we have had every driver in the country still has a shot at our $12,500 Carolina Clash championship," joked Lee. "We have not had a chance to get a good feel for how many teams are preparing for a title run, but we sure are getting a lot of interest."

Friday night's events will be Carolina Clash rules across the board. Saturday night's events will be Carolina Clash rules except the tire rule is open. Any driver competing in Saturday night's Skyler Trull Memorial will earn bonus points toward the 'Championship Series' total. The pit gates will open at 4:00 PM each day with grandstand gates opening at 5:00 PM. For more information visit www.carolinaclash.com or www.skylertrull.com
