BEDFORD, Penn. (July 11) - Jason Covert of York Haven, PA came from his 17th place starting spot to capture his first-career Independent Racing Series main event win at the Bedford Fairgrounds Speedway in Bedford, PA on Friday Night July 11, 2008.

Covert became the seventh different winner in 12 events while driving the Pre-Machine Inc., Red Wing Shoes, Baker Carburetion, Kuppy's Diner, Bam's Auto Center, JNJ Media Motorsports, and Wrisco Aluminum sponsored Hershey powered Rocket Chassis. The win was worth $5,000 during the series' first-ever visit.
