BRIGHT, Ind. (January 29) - Scott James and his #83 Dirt Late Model team are busy preparing for the start of their 2008 racing season next week at the East Bay Raceway Park in Gibsonton, Florida.  Scott, who will once again pilot a Ron Powell-owned #83 Rocket / Jay Dickens machine in '08, will open up the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series schedule from February 4-9 at the Tampa area venue.  Three $5,000 to win shows will kick-off the week, while the final three races will pay $10,000 to win, $10,000 to win, and $12,000 to win respectively.  The driver known as the "Silver Shark" finished a strong runner-up to Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series point champion Earl Pearson, Jr. last season and will once again shoot for the National Championship this year.  You can learn more about the six races that make up the 'Winternationals' at East Bay online at www.lucasdirt.com.

Following the dirt-slinging action at East Bay, the Jam-Pow Motorsports team will trek east to the Volusia Speedway Park in Barberville, Florida.  Six more nights of Dirt Late Model action will be held at the Daytona Beach area speedplant from February 11-16.  The first three shows at VSP will pay $7,000 to the winner, while the final trio of races will pay the winner a hefty
$10,000.  Both the UMP DIRTcar Series and the World of Outlaws Late Model Series will sanction events at the 1/2-mile dirt venue.  More information on the weeklong festivities at Volusia can be found online at www.volusiaspeedwaypark.com.

In all, Scott plans to enter twelve events in a matter of only thirteen days from February 4-16.  Of course, schedule plans could be altered depending on weather, mechanical issues, and a variety of other factors.  Keep up-to-date on Scott's "Speedweeks 2008" journey online at www.scottjamesmotorsports.com.

"I am very excited to start our season at East Bay next week and we are almost ready to go," stated James in a telephone conversation recently.  "We came close to winning the Lucas Oil points deal last year and our goal is to dethrone Earl (Pearson) of the title this year.  Hopefully, we can start off the season with two strong weeks at East Bay and Volusia and gain some momentum for the rest of the season!"
