Ben Shelton NASHVILLE, Ark. (May 17) - The O'Reilly MSRA Super Late Models invaded Arkansas Motor Speedway in Nashville, Arkansas on Saturday night, and when the checkered flag flew it was Greenbriar, Arkansas' driver, Jack Sullivan, taking the win.
Seventeen Super Late Models were on hand for the $2,000 to win/$400 to start event. Kyle Cummings from Minden, Louisiana earned the JFR Graphics Pole Qualifier Award for the forty lap feature event after accumulating the most passing points in heat race action. He was joined on the front row by Jack Sullivan. The field was lined up on the front straightaway for the feature event, and the drivers were introduced to the biggest crowd of the year thus far at Arkansas Motor Speedway as fireworks echoed in the background.
With driver introductions complete the fireworks on the track got underway, and at the drop of the green flag, Cummings rocketed to the lead. Cummings would lead the first lap before Sullivan blasted by to take the lead on lap two. As Sullivan set the pace throughout the early stages of the race, Cummings, Jeff Floyd, Jordan Jones, and Billy Moyer Jr. diced for positions two through five.
2008 Kuntz & Company Rookie of the Year candidate, Jon Kirby, would become the first car officially retired from the event as an early race melee eliminated the Russellville, Arkansas driver.
By lap 20, Sullivan was enjoying a comfortable advantage as things behind really started to heat up behind him with Billy Moyer Jr. passing Jordan Jones and Jeff Floyd to move into the third position on lap 22. Moyer Jr. worked on Cummings for the second position for the remainder of the event, but was unable to make the pass. Jack Sullivan masterfully worked lapped traffic in the late stages of the event and went on to take the feature win over Cummings, Moyer Jr., Floyd, and Jones. Ray Moore received the Larry Shaw Race Cars Hard Charger Award for advancing from his 12th starting position to a 6th place finish. Jon Kirby received the Weld Wheels Forge Ahead Hard Luck Award. Jack Sullivan received the COMP Cams Tom Performer.
Seventeen cars were on hand for the event with Kenny Basco's hauler breaking down on the way to the track, preventing him from being in attendance. Kyle Cummings, Jack Sullivan, and Jordan Jones won the heat races.
