Scott Daloisio PERRIS, Calif. (April 15) - One lucky child will win a brand new bicycle and any unlucky fan who presents a canceled airline ticket from last week will get in free at Don Kazarian's famous Perris Auto Speedway this Saturday night, April 19th. The Extreme Late Models, California Lightning Sprint Cars, PASSCAR Street Stocks and the Pick-A-Part Factory will all be in action on the Riverside County clay oval. The Factory Stocks will have an extra main event to make up for the March 15th rainout. Spectator gates will open at 5:00 PM with racing at 6:30.
All kids 12 years old and younger will get an entry into the bicycle giveaway when their tickets are paid for at the ticket booth. At intermission, one name will be drawn and that child will take home a brand new bicycle.
In addition to the kids getting lucky, there will be a little bit of consolation to anyone who brings a canceled airline ticket from last week. "We talked to a some fans who got trapped out of town last week due to the flight cancellation crisis," promoter Don Kazarian said. "They all said it was a miserable, boring experience so we thought it would be nice to let them in free if they presented their canceled flight ticket at the ticket window on Saturday."
The popular Extreme Late Models will head Saturday's quadruple header show. In the first five races of the season, the series has produced five different winners. Murrieta, California's Jeff Dunham, who won on March 15th, carries a narrow nine-point lead over Anaheim Hills, California veteran Ron Meyer heading into Saturday's event. Marina Del Rey, California's Bill Bartels is 15 points behind the leader after a third place finish two weeks ago. Former USAC/CRA Sprint Car star Mike Kirby of Torrance, California, the pre season favorite to win the title, is currently fourth in the standings.
The winged California Lightning Sprint Cars will be making their second appearance of the 2008 campaign at The PAS on Saturday. Lakewood, California veteran Brent Sexton won their season opener in a race he dedicated to his grandmother on March 8th. David Bezio has won two of the first five California Lightning Sprint Car main events including the last race at Bakersfield two weeks ago. Stuart Hielshcer Jr. and Mike Valentine have won the other two main events.
After his win in one of the two main events two weeks ago, defending series champion Curtis Dietzsch of Moreno Valley, California has opened up a 19-point lead in the PASSCAR Street Stock standings. Chris "The Nice Guy" Thompson of Romoland, California is second in points and won his first ever PAS main event on the same night.
Ron Davis of Norwalk, California, Banning, California's Jim Ramsey and Darryl Kinnane of Glendora, California are locked in a three way tie for the point lead in the brand new Pick-A-Part Factory Stock class heading into Saturday's double main event show at The PAS. Davis, who also competes regularly at the Irwindale Speedway, won the main event two weeks ago when the two cars that finished in front of him were disqualified for having locked rear ends.
Saturday's motorized mayhem on the clay will consist of qualifying for the Extreme Late Models and heats and main events for all of the divisions. Anyone wishing more information can contact Perris Auto Speedway at (951) 940-0134.
