TUCSON, Ariz. (March 29) - A heavy wet track was no trouble for four time SWDRA champion Lonnie Parker Jr as he took command of the field from the green and powered away from the 16 car field to the checkers Saturday night March 29, 2008 at USA Racepark in Tucson Arizona. Tommy Hussak III and Randy Carder set the pace for the 25 lap main event but Parker Jr took full advantage of the horsepower in his Russell Baker powered Chevy at the first turn to overtake Hussak and Carder coming out of turn 2. Joey Morarity overtook Hussak for the third spot in lap 2. Parker quickly moved out front and never looked back. Morarity battled with Randy Carder for the second spot until lap 16 and finally made the pass but was no match for Parker who now had over a ½ lap lead.

Fowler moved up from his 8th place starting position to 4th and continued to challenge Randy Carder for third while Hussak had dropped back to 5th and continued to hold off the charge from Mike Balcaen and Phil Barrow who finished 6th and 7th. Mike Tahtinen, Jerry Fincher and Wes Hall rounded out the top 10.

Phil Barrow from Camarillo, California and Mike Balcaen from Winnepeg, Manitoba made the trip to Tucson to race with SWDRA.

This is Lonnie Parker Jr's 46th career win with SWDRA and his first win of the 2008 season.

Next SWDRA race is April 5, 2008 at Central Arizona Raceway, Casa Grande, AZ - see you at the races!
