RINGGOLD, Ga. (October 24) - Billy Ogle Jr. of Knoxville, TN put the exclamation point on the 2009 Tennessee Thunder DirtCar Series Championship with a sixth to first place performance on Saturday night at Boyd's Speedway and claimed the one-of-a kind Civil War Cannon Trophy and the $5,000 winners check to boot.  Event Images

Brandon Kinzer of Allen, KY first appeared to be the strongest car of the field as he shot to the lead from his outside front row starting spot at the drop of the green flag and led until lap twenty-three when Ronnie Johnson of Chattanooga, TN worked lapped traffic to a charm to grab the lead from Kinzer on lap 23. Lapped traffic would once again play a factor as on lap fifty-two of the 60 lap affair, Ogle would master the lapped traffic to get by Johnson. A couple of laps later, Johnson would tangle with a lapped car to bring out one of eight cautions on the night and would dive down to the infield for a quick tire change. He would charge back to finish eighth.

Meanwhile Randy Weaver of Crossville, TN would give Ogle all he could handle in the closing laps and even pulled along side for a near photo finish at the stripe but Ogle would not be denied his fourth victory of the season and the 2009 TTDCS Championship. In Victory Lane, Ogle dedicated the season to his long-time friend and former race car owner, the late James Vanover.
