GREENWOOD, Neb. (July 2) - Terry Phillips beat seventy-two of the best dirt late model drivers as he took the "Alphabet Soup" win, sanctioned by the World Dirt Racing League, at I-80 Speedway. Phillips has been strong since he brought out the new GRT chassis, and tonight was another example.

"This is a brand new racecar," Phillips said in victory lane. "It's been awesome since be brought it out."

John Anderson started on the pole for the fifty-lap A-Main after winning the Iowa-Illinois Taylor Insulation Pole Dash. Anderson kept the thirty-car field at bay as he worked the high side to perfection. Anderson was the car to beat until a mechanical failure in the rear-end forced him to the pits early. That gave the lead to Phillips.

"I was set-up for a dry/slick track," Phillips stated. "John (Anderson) was way better than us tonight when the track was wet. I kept waiting for the track to come to us. I didn't think it would, but it finally did, and we were catching John. Then I saw his rear-end shift, and his night was done." Phillips would drive onto the win.

Kyle Berck battle in the top five throughout the 50 lapper. With ten laps remaining, Berck was locked in a battle for fifth. He worked his way through the top five and heavy lapped traffic to grab second place s the white flag was displayed. Berck would finish second.

Chad Simpson started thirteenth, and found himself in the top five by the midway point. With ten laps to go, Simpson race side-by-side with Frank Heckenast Jr during thos final ten laps. Berck would join the the duo. Simpson would finish third, and Heckenast drove home fourth.

The 2007 WDRL Chase Race Decals Rookie of the Year winner was among those battling in the top five. Kaanta rounded out the top five at I-80 Speedway.
