Who's faster at SMS, Super Streets or IMCA's?

SS vs. IMCA exhibition race at SMS.

Talked to Swindell and it seemed like he was game for having an exibition race between 3 or 4 SS going at it against 3 or 4 IMCA's. Just for exibition obviously. The fans would get a klck out of it. Something like a 6 or 8 lap race. Just about every SS I talked to said they were game. I think he was going to ask some mod guys.

It would be a lot more fun with a 390" 4 bbl "Open Motor" in the S/S

I think the tire deal is what TimSS47 is probably refering
to. The Mod tires have little to no sidewall flex/bite and they are not very soft at all. (almost as hard as DOT street tires). Weight advantage- Mods/horsepower advantage- Super streets/tire advantage-streets/fender vs open wheel-advantage streets(when running together)/ suspension adjustability advantage-mods/ cost advantage- mods/ rules advantage-mods. And besides...who says all the Mods run 4bbl's on alky?

Reply #9 - 08/21/06 at 2:23pm Most of the fast ones here in the valley do run 4 bbl's on alky. If the S/S had to stay with their 360" 2 bbl engines you would need to change HP adavntage to Mods. At Kings the Mods were about .8 a lap quicker. At Chow during the Open Show I think it was appro .5 per lap

The Mod's that do run the 4bbl on Alky, yes in some cases HP advantage. But if you can't transfer that into traction, it is irrelevent. I would say comparing the two classes is like trying to compare apples to oranges. I think if you have a tacky racetrack and get stuck in the back, a 1/2 of a second may not get you to the front in a 6 lap race. Tom Breshear's and Kenny Kirkpatrick's cars are about as wide as the turns at SMS!! LOL. It would be a fun race to watch as long as the fans knew the differences in the vehicles other than the obvious.

(BTW.. we won a main event here at SMS in a mod running a 500 2bbl on gas...355 cid.)

so what makes you think that the streeters have more hp? the claim? there are some guys out there that have just as much motor as some streeters. maybe not at sms but i'm sure after they race them a couple of years they will see.

LOL.... try some guys sporting $10,000+ bullets. Don't believe fine, but there are guys doing it.

You cant build a decent, survivable motor in that class for anything less than $2,000. Any claims otherwise are either comprised of good donated parts or the person is full of bull.
