PASSCAR STOCKS & LIGHTNING SPRINTS SATURDAY AT PERRIS AND FANS GET A CHANCE TO RACE!
(JULY 20, 2010, PERRIS, CA) This Saturday night, July 24th, Perris Auto Speedway will host the PASSCAR Super Stocks, Street Stocks, Modifieds, Sport Mods, Pick-A-Part Factory Stocks and the California Lightning Sprint Cars. In addition to the racing, the Riverside County clay oval will offer fans a chance to race in the next PASSCAR program at The PAS on August 14th. Spectator gates will open at 5:00 PM on Saturday and the first race will be at 5:30.
Fans 16 and over, who have a valid drivers license, will have a chance to purchase a raffle ticket for $10.00 on Saturday. At intermission there will be a drawing and the holder of the winning ticket will race a Pick-A-Part Factory Stock at the next race on August 14th.
“The winner is not going to race around the track by themselves,” longtime Perris Auto Speedway promoter Don Kazarian said with a smile. “They are going to be a part of the regular racing program. They will get to hot lap, race in the heat race and the main event against the regulars. You can’t beat that for $10.00.”
The car is being built by PASSCAR Modified racer Chris Thompson. “Chris always fields immaculate race cars,” Kazarian said. “Whoever wins the raffle is going to be in a car that is more than capable of running at the front of the pack. Wouldn’t that be something to see someone step out of the crowd and run with the leaders in the main? You never know, it could happen.”
This will be a recurring feature for PAS fans throughout the remainder of the 2010 season and beyond. “We are doing this to give fans a chance to see what it is like to race a car in a real race on a real race track against live competition,” the promoter said. “This is not a computer game or a race simulator. We will supply everything but the talent. That includes the car, firesuit, helmet and pit crew. We are going to do this at every PASSCAR race. Who knows, we may even get some people who have such a good time that they may build their own car and race with us on a regular basis.”
On the track this Saturday, Nuevo’s Ken Searcy (Super Stocks), Stefan Davies of Murrieta (Street Stocks), Tustin’s Alan Updyke (Modifieds), Jesse Gordon of Yucaipa (Sport Mods), Riverside’s Steven “Bam Bam” Fangmeyer and Ramona’s A.J. Bender (California Lightning Sprint Cars) will all try to extend their point leads in their respective divisions. The top five in each division are listed at the end of this release.
