Austin DeBlauw wins the final two races of the season

VENTURA, CA (October 25) - Saturday night saw another good car count as Ventura Raceway closed its 2014 reason. All night long the racing across the board was very good in our adult and kids classes. Over 100 cars and drivers were signed into the pit Saturday night.

Saturday night featured the VRA Sprint cars in the last race of the season.. All the top VRA drivers were on hand to go for final glory. There were two heat races run with wins going to Johnathan Henry and Austin DeBlauw. Their 30 lap main event was a fast and furious green white checkered race that saw Austin DeBlauw take his second win in a row. DeBlauw took the lead on lap five from Bruce Douglas and led to the finish taking the win.. Bruce Douglas finished second followed by new 2014 VRA Sprint Car Champion Kyle Smith, Johnathan Henry and Tom Hendricks.

VRA Senior Sprint action saw USAC veteran Wally Pankratz take the win in their 20 lap feature over 2014 series champion Clif Warren. Pankratz battled Ed Schwarz, who led the first 15 laps, and Warren for the last laps in an exciting race for the over 45 year old driving stars. Following Pankratz and Warren to the line were Mike Cook, Ed Schwarz and Steve Brown. 2014 VRA Series Champ Clif Warren took their one heat race.

VRA Dwarf Cars were back in action Saturday with main event wins going to Bill VanPraag in the Seniors and Johnny Conley in the Pros. Both drivers drove excellent races to take their wins. In the Seniors VanPraag was followed by Mike Neal, Bob Kaufman, Keith Vondersaar and Dave Knight.. Their two heat races went to new 2014 series champ Mike Lewis and MikeNeal In the Pros, Johnny Conley took the win over a hard charging Brian Saxton in their 20 lap main. After Conley and Saxton , Curt Cook, Kevin Calvo and Jason Horton followed to the finish line. The Pros ran three heat races with wins going to Tim Conley, Brian Saxton and Curt Cook. Brian Saxton's win clinched the 2014 Pro Championship for him.

VRA Hobby Stocks concluded their season with a eleven car field that saw two heat races going to Ernie Malone and Cameron Dougan, The 30 lap feature went to Cameron Dougan followed by his dad Randall Dougan, Ernie Malone, Tom Stephens Jr. and Chris Whitford. Malone's third place finish clinched the 2014 point race for his first ever championship by five points over Cameron Dougan.

Zachary Peterson took another win in the Sport Compact Class to clinch his third series championship.
.Mira Cook took their heat race win. Following Peterson to the finish were Trenton Morley, Mira Cook, Heath Morton and Brad Long.

Seven VRA Go Karts were on hand for this weeks action. The win in their 20 lap main event went to new 2014 series champ Kenny Byers Jr., over Justin Raper, James Evans, Henry Ito and Steven Ito.. Byers took their one heat race.

Justin Raper took his first ever Focus Midget win Saturday over Ashley Hazleton, Gary Howard, new 2014 series champ Zac Bogner and Courtney Crone. Jet Davison took their one heat race.

In Junior action new 2014 Champion Mike Long took the win in Junior Midgets over, Zack Chavez, Sandy Brown, Dalton Houghton and Cinnamon Brown.. Long also took the win in their one heat race. In Superchrger action, Blake Hendricks took the win over J D Brown, 2014 series Champion Sandy Brown , Zac Malone and Dalton Houghton. Piston competition saw Zack Chavez take another win over Dylan Neal, Brandon Velasquez and Jeremiah Wiley. Chavez also took the heat race victory.

Ventura Raceway will be back in action in 2015 with another year of exciting racing action. We want to thank all teams, drivers and all fans for their support in 2014. Be watching for our schedule release after the first of the year.
