Just a brief article about Antioch Speedway last night.  We had 12 Late Models for that show.  As always, I'm unofficial.  This was something I sent off to various sources.  Meant to include this here too.  Sorry for the delay.


Richard Papenhausen won the 20 lap DIRTcar Late Model Main Event Saturday night at Antioch Speedway.  The defending champion Papenhausen drove a flawless race to collect his third victory of the season.  The points will still be close as his rival Jeff Decker finished second and won a heat race.  Duane Cleveland finished third ahead of Anthony Restad and Terry Kuntz.

Fred Ryland will continue to lead the IMCA Sport Mod National and Antioch point races after his latest 20 lap Main Event victory.  Ryland made an impressive inside pass in Turn 3 of the ninth lap to gain the lead from Ron Brown.  Keith Brown Jr. made a daring move to get by Ryland in the final turn, there was contact and K. Brown spun himself rather than take out Ryland.  F. Ryland was the happy winner ahead of R. Brown and Patti Ryland.

Adam Teves won an eventful 20 lap[url]Dwarf Car[/url] Main Event.  Jack Haverty did a couple cartwheels entering Turn 1 at the start.  He was uninjured but out of the event.  Danny Wagner had a front row start, but a lost muffler caused him to retire.  As for the racing itself, it was a battle of the Teves cars.

Young Adam Teves battled his father David Teves fiercely during the first ten laps of the Dwarf Car feature before finally getting the lead.  Adam would go on to win his second feature of the season, and David gained several points on point leader Wagner with a second place finish.  Kevin Miraglio finished third.

Point leader Kimo Oreta led all 20 laps to win the Hobby Stock Main Event.  Danny Jones had a front row start, but he spun to cause a restart.  As Oreta drove a flawless race for his second win of the season, Jones regained second on the last lap when Brian Zachary slowed.  Robert Niven grabbed a season best third place finish.

Next Saturday night, racing continues at Antioch Speedway with a program consisting of Northern All Stars Winged 360 Sprint Cars, Wingless Spec Sprints, IMCA Modifieds, Limited Late Models and Hobby Stocks.
