Johnny Conley wins the final CDCRA vs VRA Pro Dwarf Car Challenge Race and wins the Series points championship

VENTURA, CA (September 7) - Saturday night September 5 was another great night of racing as our 2015 season begins to wind down. With the final round of the VRA/CDCRA Pro Dwarf Car Challenge headlining the night's action, the fans in attendance witnessed great racing all night long. Racing was held in six adult classes ranging from Sprints to Go Karts.

Saturday night's VRA Sprint Car racing saw a smaller than usual field of cars take to the track in the 30 lap main event. Guy Woodward increased his season long point race lead to 35 over 2014 series champ Kyle Smith, as he took the 30 lap feature. Following Woodward and Smith to the line were Cole Caberera, Clif Warren and Cody Majors. There were two heat races run with wins going to Kyle Smith and Clif Warren. The ARP Battle at the Beach Series returns next week on September 12th with the third of four events leading to the crowning of the 2015 King of the Beach on October 17.

VRA Dwarf Cars were back in action Saturday to compete in the final VRA/CDCRA Challenge race for 2015. Twenty-three dwarf cars were in the pits and three heat races were run to set the field for the 20 lap main event. Wins went to Johnny Conley, Ray Estrada and Ronnie Williams. A semi main was run to set the final transfer cars for the main which started 20 cars. Johnny Conley took the win over Jason Horton, Austin Figueroa, Angel Figueroa and April Banuelos. Conley's win also clinched the Challenge series for him as well.

VRA Senior Sprints raced Saturday night with Ed Schwarz taking his second win in 2015. He took over the lead when Clif Warren and Chris Meredith crashed in turn two, while out fron, mid way through the race as they attempted to pass a lapped car. He went on to win the race over Wally Pankratz, Clif Warren, Chris Meredith and Richard Fadardo. Schwarz also took their heat race win.

VRA Hobby Stocks had another good turn out with 12 cars signed into the pits. Past VRA competitor Wayne Heurung came out of retirement and took the 20 lap main event win over his son David Heurung, Tom Stephens, Ken Redman and Ben Scott. Their two heats went to David Heurung and Trevor Fitzgibbon. After 12 races in this class David Heurung leads the point race by 105 over Tom Stephens.

VRA Focus Midgets were also on hand Saturday night. Their 20 lap feature went to point leader Gary Howard followed by Mike Leach, Joel Rayborne, Ryan Harrison and Jet Davison. They ran one heat with the win going to Joel Rayborn.

Greg Lewis took the 20 lap VRA Go Kart Main over a field of five karts. Following him across the line were Justin Raper, Kenny Byers Jr., Henry Ito an Steven Ito. Their one heat went to Henry Ito.

Ventura Raceway will be back in action Saturday night September 12, with a full racing program featuring VRA Sprint Cars racing in their third ARP Battle at the Beach, Senior Sprints, Dwarf Cars, IMCA Modifieds, Sport Compacts. Focus Midgets and our kids classes.
