Jerry Rucker Memorial Runs at Bluegrass Speedway on Saturday May 29

Bardstown, KY-May 24, 2010- The month of May concludes this Saturday May 29 at Bluegrass Speedway as track promoters David and Anita Ferrell will again present exciting racing action as the 7th Annual Jerry Rucker Memorial event will take place at the ½ mile, high-banked Nelson County clay.

On Saturday May 29, the 7th edition of the Jerry Rucker Memorial will take for the 44 Auto Mart Super Late Models, with $2,000 to win the 30 lap event presented in memory of the late second-generation racer who competed at Bluegrass Speedway before his untimely passing. The UMP Modifieds will also be on the racing card, racing 20 laps for $500 to win. The WBRT 1320-AM UMP Sportsman will be in competition in a 15 lap, $200 to feature event, with the UMP Street Stocks in action as well in a 12 lap, $100 to win main event. For the May 29 racing event, the Super Late Model and UMP Street Stock divisions will time trial, while the UMP Modifieds and WBRT 1320-AM UMP Sportsman will pill draw for heat race starting assignment.

Activities for the May 29 racing program will see the pit area open at 4:00 p.m., with the general admission area opening at 5:00 p.m. A mandatory drivers meeting will take place at 6:00 p.m. Practice will begin at 6:30 p.m., with time trials at 7:00 p.m., followed green flag race action at or before 8:00 p.m. All times are EDT. Ticket prices on May 29 will be $15 for adults, $8 for children ages 6 to 12, and children under age 6 free in the general admission area. A pit pass will cost $30.

Mr. Rucker was a native of Hodgenville, KY and passed away in 2003 and the event to honor his memory and raise money for a college scholarship fund for his children was put in place and Tim Tungate of Campbellsville, KY would win the inaugural event in 2004. Brad Neat of Dunnville, KY would add his name to the winner’s list in 2005, with Jason Keltner of Campbellsville, KY leading the final half-lap of the race to win in 2006. Tungate would become the only repeat winner of the event to date with his win in the 2007 race, while Dustin Neat of Dunnville, KY would take would has been his biggest career win to date with the victory in 2008. Steve Francis of Ashland, KY would use an off weekend from the World of Outlaws to pilot the D.J. Wells owned machine to win in 2009.

Bluegrass Speedway last raced on May 15 and feature event winners included Jeff Watson of Campbellsville, KY in 44 Auto Mart Super Late Models, Hud Cone of Oakland City, IN in ASCT Sprint Cars, and Timmy Glazer of Bardstown, KY in UMP Street Stocks, while UMP Modifieds and WBRT 1320-AM UMP Sportsman were off.

Bluegrass Speedway is located at 2221 New Haven Road at the intersection of Kentucky Highway 31-E and exit 21 of the Martha Layne Collins (Bluegrass) Parkway. David and Anita Ferrell are the track promoters and present dirt track sports entertainment on Saturday evenings from mid-April through September.
