The Clash South makes it first trip to Travelers Rest Speedway on June 19

Wingate, NC. June 14, 2010. The second race of the season for the newly formed Clash South will be held at Travelers Rest Speedway on Saturday, June 19. The race will be paying a nice $3,500 to win. The main event will also be paying $300 to start. As always, the stars of the Clash South SLMS will be doing 2 lap qualifying with the top 10 automatically locking into the feature and the rest will fall into heat races with 2 points provisional’s to make up the rest of the field.

In the last three years, Travelers Rest Speedway has seen three different winners at Clash races including Dennis “Rambo” Franklin, Furman Parton, and last year saw Jeff Smith claiming the victory over Ricky Weeks, Casey Roberts, Frankie Beard, and Doug Sanders. Ricky Weeks set the fastest time last year with a 15.951 lap time. The win last season was Jeff Smith’s second win of the season in route to his 1st ever Carolina Clash Championship. With three different winners in three races, it’s anyone’s race this Saturday night. Can any of the previous winners pick up a second win or will we see another first time winner at Travelers Rest?

For the 2010 season, Comp Cams will be the feature sponsor, awarding the feature winner a $100 gift certificate. Also on board for 2010 is Safety Kleen who will be awarding the Safety Kleen Hard Charger of the Race Award which will be a prize pack consisting of various products from Safety Kleen. R2C Performance is now be the official heat race sponsor, awarding each hear race winner with a gift certificate towards the purchase at R2C Performance. Lincoln Electric is also onboard with the Clash South this season and will be giving all Clash South drivers a discount on all of their products. Shafer Enterprises Cool Shirts will be awarding a gift certificate to the 5th place finisher in the feature event to a purchase at Cool Shirts.

Also on the card for Saturday night will be the Limited Sportsman, Stock 8’s, Super Stock 4’s, Stock 4’s, Front Wheel Drives, and Pure Stocks. The pit gates will open at 3pm. grandstands gates will open at 4pm and the drivers meeting will be at 6pm. Hot laps will start directly after the drivers meeting. Racing will start at 7pm.
