NASRA Kentuckiana Klash $5,000 to win at Bluegrass Speedway July 10

Bardstown, KY-July 6, 2010- Bluegrass Speedway track promoters David and Anita Ferrell will return with racing action to the ½ mile, high-banked Nelson County clay oval on Saturday July 10 as the National All Star Racing Association returns for the 12th Annual Kentuckiana Klash contest, paying $5,000 to win for Super Late Models.

On Saturday July 10, the National All Star Racing Association will be in competition in a full program of practice, time trials, qualifying heats, B-Mains, and the 40 lap, $5,000 to win 12th Annual Kentuckiana Klash A-Main. Also in competition at Bluegrass Speedway on July 10 will be the UMP Modifieds racing for $500 to win and the WBRT 1320-AM UMP Sportsman racing for $200 to win, while the UMP Street Stocks have the night off. For the July 10 racing event, the Super Late Model and UMP Sportsman divisions will time trial, while the UMP Modifieds will pill draw for heat race starting assignments.

Activities for the July 10 racing program will see the pit area open at 4:00 p.m., with the general admission area opening at 5:00 p.m. A mandatory drivers meeting will take place at 6:00 p.m. Practice will begin at 6:30 p.m., with time trials at 7:00 p.m., followed green flag race action at or before 8:00 p.m. All times are EDT. Ticket prices on July 10 will be $20 for adults, $10 for children ages 6 to 12, and children under age 6 free in the general admission area. A pit pass will cost $35.

The Kentuckiana Klash first appeared on the Bluegrass Speedway schedule back in 1998 and Audie McWilliams of Walton, KY would claim victory in the inaugural running of the race, while the race was not contested in 1999. The event would return with the new century in 2000 and Jim Curry of Norman, IN would score the race victory. Darrell Lanigan of Union, KY would grab the win in the 2001 Klash race, with Mike Jewell of Scottsburg, IN becoming the first repeat winner of the race back taking back-to-back wins in the race in 2002 and 2003. Tim Tungate of Campbellsville, KY would score what was his biggest career win at that time after winning the 2004 event on a Sunday afternoon after being rained out the night before. Mike Marlar of Winfield, TN would pick up his first of three wins in the Klash event by taking the checkered flag first in 2005, while fellow Volunteer State racer Jimmy Owens of Newport, TN would hit paydirt in the 2006 contest. Steve Francis of Ashland, KY would use an off weekend from World of Outlaws action and pilot a Tim Logan owned mount to victory in the 2007 race. Mike Marlar is the defending champion of the race and is the only three-time winner of the event after picking up back-to-back victories in 2008 and 2009.

Bluegrass Speedway is located at 2221 New Haven Road at the intersection of Kentucky Highway 31-E and exit 21 of the Martha Layne Collins (Bluegrass) Parkway. David and Anita Ferrell are the track promoters and present dirt track sports entertainment on Saturday evenings from mid-April through September.
