Dog Hollow Next Up on July 11! Payoff Increase for PPMS Event
by Doug Ferrell-Dog Hollow/Roaring Knob/PPMS (MARS PA) - The UFo Race Championship will continue its $70,000 trek through July, now with an increased prize payoff at the 4th event. This Sunday night, July 11, UFo will attack the Dog Hollow Speedway for the $5,000 to win "Revolution 2010." Miley Motor Sports has cranked up the payoff for the upcoming "PENNational" event with the event now paying a total of $4,000 to win.
The next event on the UFo schedule has been highly anticipated. The UFo Super Late Models will make their 1st ever appearance at the Dog Hollow Speedway at Strongstown, PA for "Revolution 2010" on Sunday night, July 11. "Revolution 2010" will replace the "Mega-Blitz" event that was traditionally held at the Challenger Raceway in July. The 44-lap UFo Super Late Model championship will pay $5,000 to win. The Sunday night date promises to provide an excellent field of Super Late Model drivers from the region.
Dog Hollow will also being paying the Street Stocks $1,000 to win and the Sidewinder front-wheel driver 4-cylinders $500 at UFo "Revolution 2010." Pit gates are scheduled to open at 2:30 with grandstand gates at 3:30 and warm-ups at 6:00 PM. Racing will follow warm-ups. Adult grandstand admission is $20, Junior 12-15 $10 and Children 11 & under free. Pits admission is $35. The rain date for UFo "Revolution 2010" is Sunday, July 18.
The following weekend, the UFo Race Championship will once again invade the Roaring Knob Motorsports Complex for "Supernational Road." The winner of the 40 lap UFo Super Late Model championship will receive $3,000.
Mel Minnick Jr of Uniontown, PA captured his 1st-ever UFo win in June at Roaring Knob in a thrilling race on a perfect racing surface. DJ Myers of Greencastle, PA, John Mollick of Toronto, OH and Jeremy Miller of Gettysburg, PA are all winners of previous UFo events at Roaring Knob.
The track will feature its FASTRAK Semi-Lates, E-mods, Street Stocks and Chargers as part of the "Supernational Road." Pit gates are scheduled to open at 4:30, grandstand gates at 5:00, warm-ups at 6:15 and racing at 7:00. Grandstand admission will be $18 with children 10 & under being admitted free. Pits will be $30. The initial raindate for the "Supernational Road" is Sunday, July 18 pending the completion of the Dog Hollow event.
A bigger payoff now awaits drivers at Pittsburgh's PA Motor Speedway on Saturday night, July 24. The "PENNational" will now pay a total of $4,000 to win and $300 to start. This event will be a clash with the United Late Model series from the northern tier region. The PENNational will utilize the thrilling twin 28-lap UFo feature format. The monster half-mile at Pittsburgh has produce an amazing amount of passing 3 and 4 wide racing and winners from deep in the field.
Mark Banal of St. Clairsville, OH and John Mollick split the wins at the UFo/ULMS F-2 Shockwave at PPMS in May. Jared Miley of South Park, PA and Davey Johnson of Greensburg, PA won the UFo/ULMS twin features in 2009 from 13th and 15th on the grid. Other UFo winners at PPMS include Bart Hartman of Zanesville, OH, who scored a win from 20th on the starting grid, Al Atallah of Bridgeville, PA from 12th, John Flinner of Zelienople, PA, and Steve Baker of Fairmont, WV.
Pit gates will open at 5:00 PM with warm-ups and 6:00 and racing at 7:00 PM. Grandstands will be $20 for adults, $19 for seniors, $10 for juniors 13-16 and $5 for children 7-12. Pit admission will be $35.
Chad McClellan of Stoystown, OH. Currently leads John Mollick from Toronto, OH by only 5 points in the UFo point standings. Keith Barbara of South Park, PA continues to be a contender for the championship in 3rd. Tommy Beck of Jeanette, PA and Danny Mitchell of Clarksburg, WV round out the top 5. Jim Kutas of Elizabeth, PA is 6th with WV drivers Paul Wilmoth, Jr, Robbie Scott, Jared Hawkins holding 7th to 9th. Chuck Harper of Beverly, WV and Doug Horton of Bruceton Mills, WV are tied for 10th.

$100 will be paid to dnq cars starting a heat race at each event. The events have no car entry fee for the UFo Super Late Models, and UFo does not have an annual driver membership fee. All events except Tyler County will feature 24 car starting grids. Tyler County will utilize a 22 car starting grid due to the track size. All events will include 1 UFo and 1 track provisional. Tyler County, Dog Hollow, Roaring Knob and PPMS used RACEceiver 1-way communication. PPMS uses transponder scoring. Rentals are available at the tracks.
These events will be run under the UFo open brand 11" tire rule, with no minimum compound specifications. At Tyler County, Roaring Knob and PPMS, GM 602 and 604 crate motors are required to compete in the tracks' FASTRAK Semi-Late division that night. At Dog Hollow, those motors will be allowed the same weight and spoiler as the GM 525 motor since Dog Hollow will not be running the FASTRAK Semi-Lates on July 11.
