Carolina Clash is looking forward to their return visit to Dublin Speedway

By: Alex Cummings
Wingate, NC. August 11, 2010. The Carolina Clash is looking forward to their return visit to Dublin Speedway on August 21st. “We’re excited about the upcoming race in two weeks at Dublin” said Carolina Clash Owner Larry Lee. “If the first race at Dublin was any indication of how this race will be, then the fans are in for a treat”. Luke Roffers was able to motor his way to his first career win at Dublin Speedway on June 26th. Roffers also set the Carolina Clash on fire by winning the pole at Dublin Speedway. It was a full fledged sweep of the night for Roffers.

The race on June 26 was also the first ever appearance at Dublin Speedway for the Carolina Clash and it was a packed house. You could almost say it was standing room only but there wasn’t even any standing room, every seat and standing spot available was filled with an occupant. The fans in the stands stood up the entire race, screaming and chanting for their favorite drivers as the Carolina Clash boys were racing two and three wide around the entire track. “It looked like the NASCAR boys at Talladega during the Dublin Race with all the side by side racing action taking place” said Marion Limbaugh, Carolina Clash Event Coordinator.

Coming home in second place was Shawn Beasley in his season’s best finish with the Carolina Clash. Third was Dennis Franklin, fourth was Dean Bowen, and rounding out your top five was Jay Sessoms.

Currently Dennis Franklin sits atop the point standings for the Carolina Clash with Dean Bowen second in points and first in the Rookie of the Year standings. Ricky Weeks sits in third with Chris Ferguson in fourth. Jay Sessoms is sitting in the fifth in overall points and is also in the running for Rookie of the Year. With Cleveland County on August 13th and Fayetteville Motorspeedway on the 14th, the points standings could be even closer heading into Dublin on August 21st.

Dublin Speedway has run Super Late Models for a few years with Travis Hair taking the crown in both 2005 and 2009. Dean Bowen won the championship in 2006 followed by David Taylor in 2007, and Shawn Beasley in 2008. All of the past champions at Dublin are regulars in the Carolina Clash Series this year which will give them a little hometown advantage over the rest of the field of cars.
