Billy Moyer Continues Stellar 2010 Season with Knoxville Late Model Nationals Sweep

(BATESVILLE, ARKANSAS) In what may have been the proverbial icing on the cake to his tremendous 2010 season, Billy Moyer swept the 7th Annual 'Knoxville Late Model Nationals' at the legendary Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, Iowa from September 30-October 2! The trio of victories over the weekend at the 1/2-mile, Marion County fairgrounds complex escalated Billy's 2010 win total to an astounding twenty-four. The Dirt Late Model Hall of Famer amassed $54,000 in total winnings at Knoxville by claiming a pair of $7,000 preliminary wins and the $40,000 'Knoxville Late Model Nationals' triumph!

His successful weekend started on Thursday where he timed in twentieth fastest in qualifying before winning his heat race. After starting eleventh on the grid in the 25-lap prelim, Billy charged to the front of the stout field and led the final eight circuits of the event to reach victory lane ahead of Tim McCreadie, Scott Bloomquist, Earl Pearson, Jr., and Brady Smith. On Friday night, Billy qualified fourth quickest, ran third in his heat race, and later rolled off from the outside of the third row in the $7,000 to win A-Main. The Batesville, Arkansas native hounded race leader Josh Richards in the waning laps and grabbed the win in lapped traffic over Kelly Boen, Richards, Darrell Lanigan, and Tim McCreadie.

When championship night rolled around at Knoxville on Saturday, Billy started the 100-lap 'Knoxville Late Model Nationals' from the outside of the front row. In front of the cameras of the SPEED Channel, the driver known as "Mr. Smooth" blasted past Scott Bloomquist on lap twelve to take the lead and effectively dominated the rest of the race. Billy stretched out his lead over the final twenty circuits and earned his first 'Knoxville Late Model Nationals' title by 3.5 seconds over Josh Richards, Darrell Lanigan, Steve Francis, and Will Vaught. “It was a very special weekend for me, not only to win all three races, but to do it in front of a bunch of family and friends,” exclaimed Moyer, who grew up less than an hour from Knoxville in Des Moines. “A lot of those people only get to see me race once or twice a year, so it was nice to be able to perform at a high level in front of them. The car was just exceptional all weekend and we were able to win those races in both slick and hooked-up conditions. I can’t thank everyone associated with Billy Moyer Racing enough for all of their support throughout the year. It has truly been an awesome season and we will take a few weeks off to enjoy it before a pair of big races in Mississippi at the end of the month!”

Following the busy and lucrative weekend at Knoxville, the Billy Moyer Racing (BMR) team has opted to take the next couple of weekends off from racing action. Their next scheduled event will be the 16th Annual ‘Fall Classic’ at the Whynot Motorsports Park in Meridian, Mississippi on October 22-23. Preliminary events will take place on Friday night at Whynot, while the weekend will be highlighted by a $15,000 to win / $1,000 to start main event on Saturday evening. Additional information on the ‘Fall Classic’ can be accessed at www.whynotmotorsportspark.com.
