Parker continues his record setting season Friday night at Carolina Speedway

GASTONIA, NC – (June 10) – Ron “The Bull” Parker continued his record setting season Friday night at Carolina Speedway as the Belwood, NC native captured his third consecutive NDRA GM Performance Late Model main event win.
Parker started off the evening by qualifying on the pole of the 20 lap feature. Anthony Sanders joined Parker on the front row by setting the second fastest time of the 15 car field. As the green waved Parker quickly jumped to the point with Sanders in tow. As Parker began to stretch out his lead Ross Bailes began to flex his muscles as he charged through the field. As the field was headed to the white flag Bailes finally made the move past Sanders to second. At the stripe it was Parker, Bailes and Sanders. Tenth starting Dan Brewer was fourth with Zack Mitchell fifth.
In the Open Wheel Modified main event it was Stanley, NC’s Manuel Johnson holding off repeated challenges from Danny Bohn to score his second win of 2011. Bohn, Troy Loomis, Taylor Cook and Derrick Rainey rounded out the top five.
Domino’s Pizza Street Stock action saw newcomer Rusty Robinson post his first win. Mike Messer was second with Brent Hodges third, Ronald Pope fourth and Josh Robbins fifth.
In the 4th Annual Tilley Harley Davidson Renegade Roundup it was John Rhyne collecting the $600 top prize. Ronald Pope held off a wild charge by Frankie McGuire to finish second. Brandon Davis and Eric Thompson completed the top five.
Shannon Barnhill continued his domination of the Q2U BBQ Pit Four Cylinder division claiming yet another victory. Derrick Long, Randy Powell, Adam Piercy and Chad Stines rounded out the top five.
Patrick Lyon took advantage of problems by race long leader Kenny Ramsey and second place runner Bryan Mullis to score the Thunder Sportsman win. Second through fifth went to; Trey Tarlton, Michael Hough, Greg Murphy and AJ Cable.
This Friday night June 17th is Sun Drop Night. Twin Domino’s Pizza Street Stock main events headline the field. Also on the card will be the Roush Yates Late Models, Tilley Harley Davidson Renegade and Q2U BBQ Pit Four Cylinders. Gates open at 5:00 pm with racing at 8:00 pm. General admission is only $12.
