The ROOKIE, The VETERAN & The FORMER CHAMP: TANNER WORKS TOPS CLEVELAND LM's

Cleveland, TN (6/11/11) --- Two months ago, rookie Late Model competitor Tanner Works (# T35) of Cleveland, Tennessee won his career first race at his home track the Cleveland Speedway. Saturday night he prooved "no-fluke" as the # T35 "D&K Auto Repair, Easy Auto Credit, MATCO Tools" sponsored GRT / Vinson Race Engines Chevrolet racer led start to finish the night 30-lap Late Model "A" Main feature with a veteran and a former track champion breathin' down his spoiler. Rookie's topped the nights qualifying as Dustin Cansler clocked a 14:201 lap-time, over a 23-car field. Cansler unlike 2nd fastest (Works) was unable to back it up and gave-way to (veteran) Lamar Scoggins in the first of three, 10-lap heats. Works would join Scoggins as FRONT ROW JOE's by defeating Brad Coffey in heat #2, which set the stage for the feature. At the start, yellow quickly flew when the back of the field got pinched just past lap one in turn one. The restart showed Works leading Scoggins and (former track champion) LiL' John Owenby, With heat #3 winner Brian Pritchard and Riley Hickman in-tow, Scoggins would hound Works at each of the pillars but could only show him the nose-piece, lap after lap. A late race yellow hampered the field, but Works handled it like a true professional and raced to the checkered flag feet away from back-marker traffic. "I could feel him everytime" stated Works after the race. "...and I knew if I made the slightest mistake, he take over." Hickman got by Pritchard in the end for fourth place. Blake Armitage and Booger Brooks put on a great race in the Limited divisions 20-lap feature. Arimtage went from Wreckers to Checkers winning and crashing under the flagstand. Adam Earwood won the Hobby and Cody Campbell won the Pony race.
