Eric Wells Scores First Win of 2011; North/South 100 Next

by Ben Shelton
Hazard, Kentucky (08/10/11) – Eric Well powered his #18 Wells Motorsports/Rocket/ Custom Racing Engine Super Late Model to his first win of the 2011 season on Friday night as he topped the $3,000-to-win, Pete Abell Memorial at Ponderosa Speedway (Junction City, Kentucky).

Friday night was a great outing for Wells Motorsports as Eric raced to his first win of the year as he topped the $3,000-to-win, 16th Annual Pete Abell Memorial at Ponderosa Speedway (Junction City, Kentucky). With a field of 18 Super Late Models entered, Eric would set fast time before winning his heat race. For the feature Wells would draw an invert of three, resulting in him starting third on the grid. He would waste little time racing his way to the front as he went on to claim the win over David Webb, Brad Neat, Victor Lee, and Jeff Watson.

On Saturday evening, Eric entered the 13th Annual Bluegrass 50 at Bluegrass Speedway (Bardstown, Kentucky), which was sanctioned by the MDRL Late Model Series. With 27 Super Late Models entered Wells would finish third in his heat race to lock into the seventh starting spot for the main event. Eric would battle in the top ten until a melee on a lap 19 restart brought his night to an early end in the 19th position.

This weekend, the team will enter the 29th Annual Sunoco Race Fuels North/South 100 at Florence Speedway (Union, Kentucky). The $50,000-to-win, Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) event will get underway on Thursday with an Open Practice Session. Friday night will be headlined by time trials and heat race action, while Saturday will see b-mains and the 100 lap finale contested.
