Carolina Clash Headed to Wythe Raceway Saturday, August 13th

RURAL RETREAT, Va. (August 11) - The Carolina Clash will be making their 1st visit of the season to the fast, high banks at Wythe Raceway. The Carolina Clash Super late Model Series will be at Wythe August 13th for a $4000 to win 40 lap main event. Familiar to many of the Carolina Clash drivers, Wythe always produces high speeds and close racing. "We are looking forward to the Clash returning to Wythe," said Fred Brown, "We have been working real hard on the track this week, we want to have a real good track for these guys to race on Saturday."

With the JE Pistons Roush/Yates Performance Parts "Chase for the Cup" starting on August 20th, this will be the last race of the regular season points. In Clash points, Dennis "Rambo" Franklin holds onto the points lead by 29 points over Luke Roffers. Mike Gault sits in 3rd place, with a 38 point advantage over Kenny Compton Jr. Jeff Smith is in 5th with a mere 5 point advantage over ROY contender Chad Paxton and 15 points over seventh place Scott Autry. Dustin Mitchell is 8th in points, 19 points ahead of 9th place David Taylor. Jay Sessoms moved 5 points ahead of ROY contender Travis Yow in the last Clash event to take over the 10th place. Yow maintains 11th and Tim Allen is in 12th place only 15 points out of the top 10.

There are 13 Drivers that are currently eligible to make the JE Pistons Roush/Yates Performance Parts "Chase for the Cup". The Chase is a 6 race shoot out for the Championship with chase contenders points re-set, bonus points added, and the "Chase" begins.

The last Carolina Clash event at Wythe saw Kenny Compton Jr. start 15th and go on to take his Appalachian Leasing sponsored, Clements powered, Bloomquist chassis. " to the win. Chris Ferguson finished a close 2nd and Donald Bradsher claimed the Fastest Qualifier Honor.

Other divisions on the card for Saturday include Fastrak Late Models, Super Street, Mods, Pro Mini, U-car and U-car 2. Pit gates will open at 4:00 pm and grandstands gates open at 5:00pm. Wythe Raceway is located at 164 Race Track Rd. Rural Retreat, VA 24368. Track Ph: 276-686-4261. You must be 12 or older to enter pit area.
