Jason Covert Comes From 14th to Score $4000 Three State Flyers Win at Roaring Knob Motorsports Complex



MARKLEYSBURG, PA (August 13) - York Haven, PA’s Jason Covert had the huge crowd on their feet driving from his 14th starting spot to win his fourth Three State Flyers Series feature event this season on Saturday at Roaring Knob Motorsports Complex.  Ryan Montgomery won his second of the season in the Krause Electric FASTRAK Late Models with Todd Dennis earning his sixth win in the TC Race Car Parts Street Stocks.  Marty Spade, Jr. won the Ft. Necessity Garage Charger main and Steve Settle claimed another win in the 4 Cylinder Roadrunners while the AMRA Modifieds had the night off.

The Main Event of the night was the 35-lap Three State Flyers Series for the American Racer Tire Super Late Models. Mason Zeigler grabbed the lead at the drop of the green and held veteran Butch McGill at bay lap after lap.  Gregg Satterlee joined them and made it a three car battle royal for the lead. As the three of them were occupied with each other, 14th starting Jason Covert wasted no time getting to the front moving into the top five on lap 12. Twice Gregg Satterlee took the lead only to have a caution come out before a lap was completed.  Zeigler drove like a seasoned veteran as he continued to hold off Satterlee, McGill and Jamie Lathrom.  Covert joined the party and the five drivers went side by side keeping the fans holding their breath for over 12 laps before Covert made a breath taking outside pass to take the lead on lap 22. Covert then began to pull away when the action slowed on lap 32.  The final three laps had Lathrom glued to Covert bumper.  Covert withstood the challenge and drove to his fourth series win this season.  Lathroum was second ahead of Butch McGill, Mel Minnick, Jr., Keith Jackson, Tim Senic, Billy Holbert (from 23th), Sam Stile, Matt Cosner and Bob Gordon.  Heat winners were Minnick, Zeigler and Ron Delano, Jr.  Zeigler also won the 6 lap dash to start on the pole.
