Late Models Return to Wakeeney Speedway on September 18 by Dusty Wiegert
WAKEENEY, Kan. -- The full bodied gladiators of dirt track racing will make a return to WaKeeney on this upcoming Sunday September 18. It will be the first time in seven years the Late Models will race at the 3/8 mile located on the WaKeeney Fairgrounds.
The MidwestDirt Late Model Series will roll into town fresh off a great event at the Salina Speedway on August 26. Caney, Kansas driver Gary Gorby picked up the win with the "Iceman" Delbert Smith out of Wichita coming home second. Both of these drivers along with 2010 Rookie of the Year Doug Sieh are locked into a vicious battle for the top spot in the point standings with Sieh leading over Gorby by five points and Smith by nine points.
Also on the card for racing on the evening will be the Points Championships for the IMCA divisions that normally race at the Speedway that includes Modifieds, Stock Cars, Hobby Stocks, and Sport Mods. Race time is set for 6:00PM.
Adult admission to this special event is only $10 with Kids 6-12 years old $5 and kids under 6 FREE.
