Carolina Clash Returns to 311 Speedway Saturday, October 8thRound 5 of the JE Pistons Roush /Yates "Chase for the Championship"
Only two more events scheduled for the Blue Collar Tour as the stars of the Carolina Clash return to 311 Speedway on Saturday, October 8th for a 40 lap $4,000 to win feature event. As the season starts to wind down the JE Pistons Roush/Yates "Chase for the Championship," battle is getting down to the wire.
In the first visit back in June, Dennis Franklin led flag to flag en-route to his first Carolina Clash victory of the season. Randy Weaver in his first ever Carolina Clash event, finished a close 2nd. Johnny Pursley took 3rd after setting the XS Power Racing Batteries Fastest Qualifying lap during time trials. Ross Bailes finished fourth and Ronnie Hoover raced to a fifth place finish.
The second visit to 311 Speedway came July 9th. Ricky Weeks took the lead on lap 16 and went on to take the win. Weeks was followed to the line by Dennis Franklin, Luke Roffers, Jay Sessoms, and Scott Autry.
In the JE Pistons "Chase for the Championship" Dennis Franklin has an eight point advantage over second place Chase contender Kenny Compton Jr. Luke Roffers holds onto third in Chase points. 2009 Carolina Clash Champion, Jeff Smith, is in fourth and is currently within 7 points of Roffers. Mike Gault and Scott Autry are tied for fifth place and Dustin Mitchell is in seventh. Mitchell is only seven points ahead of 2011 Rookie of the Year contender, Travis Yow. Tim Allen and David Taylor round out the top ten. Jay Sessoms, Craig Shuffield, and Chad Paxton fill in the remaining 3 positions of the 13 Chase contenders.
Luke Roffers continues to lead the Series in wins this season with 4 Carolina Clash victories. Rambo and Ray Cook have 2 wins each so far this year. Kenny Compton Jr, Ricky Weeks, Scott Autry, Ross Bailes, Johnny Pursley, Chris Ferguson, and Austin Dillon have all logged in one Clash Victory this season.
In the Klotz Lubricants Rookie of the Year battle, Travis Yow holds a commanding lead heading into 311 speedway. Yow, in his first full season in a super late model, pilots a Bob Pierce Dodge.
Along with the Carolina Clash Super Late Models the Crate Late Models, Stock 4 Cylinders and U-cars will be running. Pit gates will open at 3pm on Saturday and the grandstands will open at 5pm. The drivers meeting will be 6pm with hot laps right after the drivers meeting.
