Deery Series makes long-awaited return April 14 to Hamilton County Speedway

WEBSTER CITY, Iowa (April 10) – The Deery Brothers Summer Series ends an absence of nearly six years when the IMCA Late Model tour returns to Hamilton County Speedway for a Satur­day, April 14 show.

Pit gates at Webster City open at 4 p.m. and the grandstand opens at 5 p.m. for the $2,000 to win, minimum $250 to start event. Hot laps are at 6 p.m. and racing starts at 7 p.m.

The series has made 26 previous visits to the ˝-mile dirt fairgrounds venue, most recently on June 21 of 2006 when Rob Toland of Davenport ended the night in victory lane.

Jeff Aikey of Cedar Falls has collected six of his all-time leading 55 career Deery wins at Webster City. Two-time winners there include two-time defending series champion Ray Guss Jr. of Milan, Ill., Bob Hill of Story City, Terry Neal of Ely, Mike Smith of Jewell, Toland and Gary Webb of Blue Grass.

Pit passes for the third of 21 events on the 2012 series schedule are $25. Grandstand admission is $12 for adults, $10 for seniors, $5 for students and free for kids 12 and under.

IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks and Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods are also on the program but will not race for points. Completing the card are local stock cars.

Andy Eckrich of Oxford and Mike Murphy Jr. of Colona, Ill., were winners of the first two Deery features of the season. Murphy and Tyler Bruening of Decorah share the point lead heading to Webster City.

A tour tripleheader is on tap next weekend, before the start of the regular Late Model point sea­son on April 27.

The series is at Davenport Speedway on Friday, April 20; at West Liberty Raceway on Saturday, April 21; and at Dubuque Fairgrounds Speedway on Sunday, April 22.
