Rain Hampers Corn Belt Clash Double-Dip

In what was a trend for most Midwest racing Friday night, Mother Nature got the better deal and the Karsyn’s Krusaders 40 at Davenport Speedway was postponed till a future date. ‘Ma Nature’ struck again the next day, pushing the ‘Bohlander Tribute’ at Peoria Speedway to the following day as once again, heavy rains soaked the area.

Under the threat of on-coming storms, 31 Corn Belt Clash Late Models checked into the high-banked quarter-mile speed plant in Peoria. Second-generation driver, Bobby Pierce of Oakwood, Illinois captured the Isky Racing Cams Heat One over veteran Billy Drake. ‘The Squirrel’ Brian Shirley captured the win in the Comp Cams Second Heat Race with CBC regular Chris Simpson capturing the JE Pistons Third and final heat race.

Just as the final Corn Belt Clash heat race finished, the sky began to open up and once again, the rain began to fall. After a short delay, CBC Officials and track promoters decided to pull the plug on the event and complete the event at a future date.

The remainder of the annual $4,000-to-win Bohlander Tribute will be picked-up where it ended on April 15, with the $500-to-win Kindl LLC Business Solutions Quick Six Dash, two B-Features and the $4,000-to-win Bohlander Tribute.

When make-up dates are determined for both the Davenport and Peoria events are determined, they will be posted on both the Corn Belt Clash website along with their Facebook page. The next event on the schedule for the travelers of the Corn Belt Clash Series is on May 18th at Cedar County Raceway in Tipton, Iowa.

On another note, condolence go out to Corn Belt Clash President Cam Granger and his family on the recent passing of his grandmother, Dot. Our thoughts are with you and your family during this tough time.
