Kent Robinson Races to First Win of 2012; WoO Tripleheader Up Next

by Ben Shelton
Bloomington, Indiana (05/22/12) – After flirting with victory lane on several occasions early in 2012 Kent Robinson finally sealed the deal on Saturday night by piloting his #7r JB's Salvage/Mastersbilt/Jay Dickens Racing Super Late Model to his first win of the season on Saturday night at Brownstown Speedway.

Kent opened his weekend by making the trek to Moler Raceway Park (Williamsburg, Ohio) for the $3,000-to-win, Freedom Fighters 40, which was sanctioned by the American Dirt Racing Association (ADRA).  Eighteen cars entered into the event, and via time trials Robinson locked into the pole-sitter's dash.  Unfortunately a flat tire would result in Kent finishing eighth in the dash, which left him starting eighth in the 40 lap feature.  He would mount a great rally in the main event to record a second place finish behind race winner, Jason Jameson. Full results are available at www.MolerRacewayPark.com

On the heels of a strong run on Friday night Kent rolled into Brownstown Speedway (Brownstown, Indiana) on Saturday night for a Weekly Racing Series Event, which drew a stout field of 33 competitors.  After advancing from the fifth starting spot to a second place finish in the first heat race, Robinson locked into the fifth starting spot for the main event.  Early in the feature he would slip as far back as the seventh position before mounting a charge to the front of the field to claim the win on the 1/4 mile oval, which was his first of the 2012 season!  He was followed across the finish line by Greg Johnson, Chad Stapleton, Joe Janowski, and Steve Barnett. Full results are available at www.BrownstownSpeedway.com.

"My guys have been working their tails of, and we've had a really good car over the past few months.  It feels good to finally knock down the first win of the year.  With the first one out of the way, I think we can go get some more now," an excited, Robinson noted.

Kent Robinson Racing will resume their pursuit of the World of Outlaws Rookie of the Year title this Memorial Day weekend, May 25th-27th with a trio of events in Ohio and West Virginia.  Action gets underway on Friday night with a $10,000-to-win program at NAPA Wayne County Speedway (Orrville, Ohio).  On Saturday evening the brand-new, Bullring Bonanza will be held at Tyler County Speedway (Middlebourne, West Virginia) with a $25,000 winner's check on the line and over $50,000 in prizes going home with lucky fans.  The weekend will conclude on Sunday evening at the recently renovated and reopened I-77 Speedway (Fair Plain, West Virginia) with a $10,000-to-win feature.  Kent is currently second in the WoO Rookie of the Year point's battle and twelfth in the overall tour standings.  For more information on the events, please visit www.WoOLMS.com.
