Who Will It Be? NDRL Champion to Be Crowned 'King of Dirt' at 'Pittsburgher 100'
 
Pittsburgh, PA (October 9) The inaugural season for the National Dirt Racing League (NDRL) and the 'Let's Get Dirty' Tour will come to a close this upcoming weekend, October 10-11-12 after the 25th Annual 'Pittsburgher 100' at Pittsburgh's Pennsylvania Motor Speedway. After the five event mini-series, the question is: Who Will It Be?
 
Who will be crowned 'King' of the 'Kings of Dirt' and claim the first ever NDRL championship? The five event mini-series was originally set to kick off during the weekend of March 29 and 30 at Paducah (KY) International Raceway and Federated Auto Parts Raceway at I-55 in Pevely, MO. Unfortunately Mother Nature had different plans forcing NDRL officials to move the opening weekend to April 12 and 13.
 
Shinnston, West Virginia's 'Rocket Man', Josh Richards launched his way into the record books on Friday, April 12 after a dominating win at Paducah International Raceway becoming the first ever NDRL event winner. The following night, April 13 at Federated Auto Parts Raceway at I-55, Richards was again in the hunt to claim his second $20,000 win of the weekend but after leading early in the event, suffered a flat tire ending his chances at a weekend sweep. Muscataine, Iowa's Brian Birkhofer was eventually named the winner but it was Jimmy Mars of Menomonie, Wisconsin, with finishes of third and second, who led the championship point standings at the end of the inaugural weekend.
 
The NDRL points chase was tight as the tour made their way to Roaring Knob Motorsports Complex in Markleysburg, Pennsylvania on Monday, September 2. Mars lead Batesville, Arkansas' Billy Moyer by a mere four points and Birkhofer by six points. Richards was 16 points back while Dennis Erb Jr., of Carpentersville, Illinois sat 22 markers back. Moyer staked claim to the point lead after outlasting the field at Roaring Knob to pick up his first NDRL win.
 
Moyer currently leads the championship point standings with 586 points heading into the 'Pittsburgher 100' and final weekend of the NDRL's inaugural season but with the $10,000 to-win 'Let's Get Dirty 50' and the $25,000 to-win 'Pittsburgher 100' left, the door is still wide open for anyone within the top-ten to claim the championship.
 
Jimmy Mars, with 572 points sits second in the standings just 14 points behind Moyer while Richards is just four points behind Mars with 568 points. Erb is fourth with 552 points as Birkhofer rounds out the top-five with 546 points. Zebulon, Georgia's Shane Clanton (540pts.) is sixth just ahead of Hazard, Kentucky's Eric Wells (534pts.). Watertown, New York's Tim Fuller (515pts.) is eighth while Jason Feger (496pts.) of Bloomington, Illinois and Greensburg, Pennsylvania's Davey Johnson (442pts.) is tenth. The NDRL Points Championship pays $20,000 to the Champion.
 
Other drivers that have tentative plans to be in action at the 25th Annual, Silver Anniversary 'Pittsburgher 100' include Steve Baker, Keith Barbara, Scott Bloomquist, Jackie Boggs, Boom Briggs, Brandon Burgoon, Eddie Carrier Jr., Rick Eckert, Dennis Erb Jr., Alex Ferree, Steve Francis, Chub Frank, Coleby Frye, John Garvin Jr., Lynn Geisler, Jacob Hawkins, Jared Hawkins, Austin Hubbard, Mike Johnson, Mike Knight, Jamie Lathroum, Matt Lux, Dale McDowell, Jared Miley, Jeremy Miller, John Mollick, Donnie Moran, Devin Moran, Mike Norris, Kent Robinson, Gregg Satterlee, Steve Shaver, Matt Urban, Mason Zeigler, along with a host of others.
 
The 'Pittsburgher' weekend will kick off with a pre-race party and car show at the Quaker Steak & Lube® in Robinson Twp., Pennsylvania tonight October 9 for 6:00pm-8:00pm. The event will feature a wing eating contest and a live radio remote on Pittsburgh's Country Music Station Y108. The racecars of Shinnston, West Virginia's Josh Richards, South Park, Pennsylvania's Keith Barbara, and Jason Feger of Bloomington, Illinois will be on display as well as the super-sharp, Spiderman themed, Racers for Tots Rocket Chassis as well as Don Gamble and the #1 Cochran, Speedway Productions, Rappin' on Racin' Official Pace Car of the NDRL. Racers for Tots will have their raffle tickets on sale at Quaker Steak & Lube® while the NDRL, Y108 and Quaker Steak & Lube® will have other games and giveaways throughout the evening.
 
Then on Thursday, October 10 with an open practice for the NDRL Super Late Models, Sweeney RUSH Late Models, and the UEMS Emods. Friday, October 11 will feature the $10,000 to-win 'Let's Get Dirty 50' for the NDRL Super Late Models while the RUSH Late Models and Emods will both compete in their own $1,500 to-win events. The blockbuster of the weekend comes on Saturday, October 12 as the NDRL Super Late Models will battle for a whopping $25,000 to-win in the 25th Annual, Silver Anniversary 'Pittsburgher 100'.  The RUSH Late Models have a $3,000 to-win event on the card as well as the UEMS Emods who will also go after a $3,000 top prize.
 
The NDRL has teamed up with the Pittsburgh Pirates to bring in the official mascot of the Pirates, the Pirate Parrot, to the 'Pittsburgher 100' festivities and take part in the 'Pittsburgher Wiffle Ball Game' that will be held on Saturday, October 12. The 'Pirate Parrot' will help cheer on the teams, meet and greet fans of all ages and pose for photos. Teams will consist of drivers and fans and will play a fun 4 inning wiffle ball game. Drivers already committed to playing are Boom Briggs, Keith Barbara, Shane Clanton, Coleby Frye, and Gregg Satterlee. Other drivers will be announced soon. Fans over the age of 18 will have the opportunity to sign up to play on Thursday and Friday near the Racers for Tots display. Players will be announced before the $10,000 to-win 'Let's Get Dirty 50' on Friday night. The game will be played (weather pending) at 12:00pm in the parking lot of Pittsburgh's Pennsylvania Motor Speedway.
 
Also on Saturday, a driver autograph session will be held under the grandstands at 3:00pm. Many of the weekend's top drivers will be on hand to sign items for fans including an 8x10 'Pittsburgher 100' poster provided by the NDRL. Legendary Entertainment will be on hand both Friday night and Saturday night to put on a huge fireworks display for fans while country music star Cody McCarver will also be in the house for a Saturday afternoon concert.
 
Prices for Practice on Thursday, October 10 are General Admission: Free, Pits: $25.00, Friday, October 11: General Admission $25.00, Pits $35.00, Saturday, October 12: General Admission $35.00, Pits $45.00. Two-Day (Friday & Saturday) Passes are available: General Admission $50.00, Pits $70.00. Fans are also invited to bring a minimum $5.00 toy donation for Racers for Tots to receive a Free Fan Pit Pass on Saturday only with General Admission purchase.
