Ironman Classic by CT Promotions October 11, Fall Classic October 12 at Ponderosa Speedwayby Michael Despain
JUNCTION CITY, KY (October 9) - Ponderosa Speedway track promoter Larry Yantz and track co-promoters Chad and Sarah Yantz are set to close out the 2013 racing season at the 3/8 mile D-shaped red clay oval better known as “Kentucky’s Baddest Bullring” as the 9th Annual Ironman Classic by CT Promotions will take place on Friday October 11, while the track’s 23rd Annual Fall Classic closes out the 2013 racing campaign on Saturday October 12.
The Friday October 11 racing program will be the 9th Annual Ironman Classic presented by CT Promotions, with Good Neighbor Pharmacy Super Late Models racing for $2,000 to win in a 30 lap main event that evening. Also on the Friday October 11 racing program will be the Bluegrass Drug Store Modifieds racing for $1,500 to win in a 30 lap main event, while the D&D Pallet Recyclers Sportsman racing for $500 to win in a 20 lap main event. The Smith Automotive Machine Shop Pro Late Models will have the night off, but are welcome to race with the Super Late Model division, however, they must compete under Super Late Model division rules. RACEceivers are mandatory for all divisions and can be rented at the track at the driver registration, which all drivers must be signed in at by 7:00 p.m. that evening.
The Saturday October 12 racing program will be the track’s 2013 season finale event and will be the 23rd Annual Fall Classic, with Good Neighbor Pharmacy Super Late Models racing for $5,000 to win in a 50 lap main event, along with the Bluegrass Drug Store Modifieds racing for $2,000 to win in a 35 lap main event, and D&D Pallet Recyclers Sportsman racing for $500 to win in a 20 lap main event. The Smith Automotive Machine Shop Pro Late Models will have the night off, but are welcome to race with the Super Late Model division, however, they must compete under Super Late Model division rules. RACEceivers are mandatory for all divisions and can be rented at the track at the driver registration, which all drivers must be signed in at by 6:30 p.m. that evening. Also, the highest finishing driver from the A-Mains on Friday October 11 that does not transfer to the A-Main on Saturday October 12 in all three divisions will be guaranteed the 23rd starting position in Saturday night’s main events, but they have to compete in their heat and B-Main on Saturday to be eligible to receive this provisional starting position.

Activities for the Friday October 11 9th Annual Ironman Classic by CT Promotions will see the pit area open at 4:00 p.m., while the general admission area will open at 5:00 p.m. The drivers meeting will take place at 7:00 p.m., with practice laps set to begin at 7:20 p.m. Bob Allen Motor Mall time trials will get underway at 7:45 p.m., with racing set for the green flag at 8:30 p.m. All times listed are EDT. Ticket prices on Friday October 11 for the 9th Annual Ironman Classic in the general admission area will be $20 for adults, while children ages 12 and under will be admitted free with a paid adult. A pit pass will be $35.
Activities for the Saturday October 12 23rd Annual Fall Classic will see the pit area open at 3:30 p.m., while the general admission area will open at 4:30 p.m. The drivers meeting will take place at 6:30 p.m., with practice laps getting underway at 6:50 p.m. Bob Allen Motor Mall time trials will begin around 7:15 p.m., with racing set for the green flag at 8:00 p.m. Ticket prices on Saturday October 12 for the 23rd Annual Fall Classic in the general admission area will be $25 for adults, while children ages 12 and under will be admitted free with a paid adult. A pit pass will be $40.

Current track championship point leaders heading into the Friday October 11 and Saturday October 12 events are Victor Lee of Danville, KY in Good Neighbor Pharmacy Super Late Models, Benji Lee of Loretto, KY in Bluegrass Drug Store Modifieds, and Glen Hounshell, Jr. of Mount Vernon, KY in D&D Pallet Recyclers Sportsman. Track points are complete for the Smith Automotive Machine Shop Pro Late Model division and Todd Coffman of Junction City, KY is the 2013 track champion for the division.
