Ray Cook Rallies to Top Ten in Winterfest; Heads to EAMS this Weekend

BRASSTOWN, NC (February 27) - Brasstown, North Carolina ace Ray Cook took fellow driver Charlie Parker up on his last-minute offer to pilot Parker's #27 MasterSbilt Gen-X machine on Saturday, February 22 at Winchester Speedway in Winchester, Tennessee.  The annual running of the 'Winterfest' program took place last Saturday and a $3,000 top prize was on the line for the Super Late Models.  Ray started off his day by clicking off the third fastest lap in his group during time trials prior to taking the win in his consolation race.

The unsanctioned, one-day showdown was headlined by a 40-lap feature event and Ray rolled off from the inside of the sixth row.  After running strong early in the race, Ray ducked into the pit area when a power steering hose came off, but crew members were able to make quick repairs and the "Tarheel Tiger" rejoined the field at the tail for the restart.  Ray then rallied back through the pack during 'Winterfest' to salvage an eighth place performance.  You can view complete results from Winchester Speedway by accessing www.winchesterspeedway.net.

Ray will now turn his focus to East Alabama Motor Speedway in Phenix City, Alabama this upcoming weekend, as he will be behind the wheel of his own #53 Super Late Model.  The 17th Annual 'Bama Bash' will be held at EAMS on February 28-March 1 and the winner of the National Dirt Racing League (NDRL) extravaganza will receive a hefty $17,017 payday.  Qualifying and heat races are slated for Friday night at the historic oval, while the big weekend will culminate on Saturday evening with consolation races and the 75-lap A-Main.  Additional information concerning the 'Bama Bash' can be obtained by logging onto www.thendrl.com.
