Wet Conditions Following Winter Storms Force Cancellation Of Kentucky Lake Motor Speedway’s March 20 World of Outlaws Late Model Series Event
Decision On Status Of March 21 WoO LMS Event At I-30 Speedway To Be Announced Soon

CALVERT CITY, Ky. - March 15, 2015 - The strong storms that brought record amounts of snow to Kentucky and surrounding states this winter have claimed Kentucky Lake Motor Speedway's Bluegrass Nationals.

Track and series officials have announced the World of Outlaws Late Model Series event scheduled for Fri., March 20 has been cancelled due to extremely wet conditions at the track following the region's latest round of winter weather. Large accumulations of snow that have slowly thawed have prevented and continue to prevent track crews from preparing the 3/8-mile oval and its surrounding facility.

"We were really looking forward to having the World of Outlaws back at Kentucky Lake," said track co-owner Ronnie Jones. "Unfortunately, the weather just hasn't cooperated. I hate it for all the fans because I know they were really excited about this race. But after the winter we've had, there was really no other option."

The Bluegrass Nationals, which would have served as the first WoO LMS event at Kentucky Lake since 2005, was scheduled to be the opening leg of a weekend doubleheader for WoO LMS competitors. At this point, the series event on Sat., March 21 at I-30 Speedway in Little Rock, Ark., remains on schedule. However, I-30 Speedway officials are also dealing with wet conditions from the recent snow storms that hit that area. A final decision on the status of the I-30 event will be announced soon.

Saturday's race at I-30 will mark the third consecutive year the WoO LMS has visited the popular quarter-mile oval. Current WoO LMS points leader Shane Clanton (2013) of Zebulon, Ga., and Billy Moyer (2014) of Batesville, Ark., are the track's two past WoO LMS winners. More information on the track and event is available by visiting www.i-30speedway.com.

Following Saturday's event at I-30, World of Outlaws Late Model Series competitors turn their attention to the Douglas Dodge Ram Trucks Illini 100 set for March 26-28 at Farmer City Raceway in Farmer City, Ill. The blockbuster weekend features an open practice on Thurs., March 26 ahead of two separate WoO LMS programs on Fri., March 27 and Sat., March 28. Friday's program features a 30-lap A-Main paying $6,000 to the winner, while Saturday's main event winner will pocket a whopping $15,000.

General admission ticket prices for the Illini 100 are $25 for Friday and $35 for Saturday. Two-day tickets with a reserved seat are available in advance at the reduced price of $50. Two-day ticket prices at the gate will be $55 without reserved seating. Tickets are available now at http://dirtcar.ticketforce.com.

I-30 Speedway Cancels Saturday’s World of Outlaws Late Model Series Event Due To Wet Conditions Following Winter Storms

WoOLMS PR
LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – (March 17) -– Lingering wet conditions from the same winter storm systems that led to the cancellation of Kentucky Lake Motor Speedway’s March 20 World of Outlaws Late Model Series event have forced officials from I-30 Speedway to also cancel the WoO LMS event scheduled for March 21 at I-30.

Large accumulations of snow that have slowly thawed and frequent rain have left the quarter-mile oval and its surrounding facility heavily saturated, with large portions of the track’s pit area inaccessible. With forecasts predicting more wet weather later in the week, track promoter Tracey Clay was forced to call off the event.

“I want to thank Tracey and her father Joe for their efforts to host this race,” WoO LMS Series Director Tim Christman said. “They’ve always done everything possible to get our races in. Unfortunately, the harsh weather this winter has made it impossible for the track to host a major event this weekend.”

In light of the cancellation, I-30 Speedway hopes to host an open practice on Sun., March 22 for its local divisions. More information is available by visiting www.I-30speedway.com.
