Lunger Jr gets Rush Crate Late Model event at Wayne County Speedway
by Brian Liskai ORRVILLE, Ohio (April 18) – It was the first ever Harriger Towing Rush Crate Late Model event at Wayne County Speedway with a veteran Crate driver showing the way to victory lane. Dennis Lunger Jr. of Albion, Pa won the track championship at Sharon Speedway last season and he would open the Crate Late Model era at the Orrville speedplant by leading every lap of the 20 lap feature. Starting on the outside front row aboard the Schwartz Construction, State Farm and Edward Jones #71L, Lunger Jr. beat Charlie Duncan into turn one at the start and open up a half straightaway lead at the halfway mark. Duncan would hold off several challenges by Justin Chance with Ryan Markham close behind those two. With six circuits to go, Duncan would pull away from Chance and close the gap on Lunger Jr. but not enough to challenge for the win. Joe Long filled out the top five as heat wins went to Lunger Jr. and Markham.
