Jeep Van Wormer Fourth in Merritt Summer Showdown; Doubleheader Weekend Ahead

PINCONNING, MICH (June 18) - Jeep Van Wormer and his #55 team made a special midweek appearance at Merritt Speedway in Lake City, Michigan on Wednesday evening, June 10 for a visit by the American Ethanol Late Model Tour.

Jeep qualified third quickest overall during time trials and later placed third in his heat race after an invert of four. The Pinconning, Michigan ace then rolled off from the outside of the fifth row in the $3,000 to win feature event and climbed to as high as third in the 40-lapper. Following a late-race caution, Jeep slipped back to fourth at the checkers behind only race winner Eric Spangler, Dona Marcoullier, and Austin Dillon. Iron Motorsports is now preparing their equipment for a doubleheader in the states of Michigan and Ohio over the June 19-20 weekend. On Friday night, the American Ethanol Late Model Tour will roll into I-96 Speedway in Lake Odessa, Michigan to preside over a $2,000 to win throwdown. Jeep will then take his racing talents to Oakshade Raceway in Wauseon, Ohio on Saturday evening for the annual running of the 'Barney Oldfield Race.' The American Late Model Series (ALMS) will once again sanction the Oakshade biggie and a $5,100 top prize has been established.
